The Irish Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (ISPCC) is a renowned Irish charity dedicated to protecting childhood and enhancing the lives of children and young people. It provides a suite of services, supports and programmes to children and families and is best known for its free, confidential, 24-hour support line – Childline.

Our team are supporting the ISPCC through a variety of fundraising  and volunteering opportunities including selling ponchos at some amazing gigs in the summer of 2025, supporting the ISPCC breakfast in our stores, warehouse and Support Office in May 2025 and on Thursday 12th June 2025, 24 brave Eason staff members faced the rain, the humidity, and a 150ft drop from the top of Croke Park - all to raise vital funds for our charity partner, the ISPCC - we’re thrilled to share that together they’ve raised an incredible €13,500 for the ISPCC, who work to support and protect children and young people across Ireland.

Spelling Bee

The Eason Spelling Bee was launched in 2011. The nationwide competition is part of an overall Eason literacy and reading initiative that aims to inspire children to develop a greater appreciation of words in a fun and educational way, and to encourage them to perfect their spelling and pronunciation skills.

The All-Ireland winning bee will get a selection of books for their school library valued at €7,500, in addition to the coveted title of Eason Spelling Bee 2024 Champion. The winner themselves will also receive a goodie bag packed of books worth €500.This year, over 520 schools nationwide will compete against each other in a bid to win the prestigious prize. The Eason Spelling Bee team will be travelling around the country to host County Final Bees, and then progressing to a Provincial Bee contest. The champions from these will then go head-to-head in the All-Ireland Final Bee, taking place in June 2024, with the lucky winner being crowned King or Queen Bee.

Get Into Reading

Get into Reading Story Time

Every Saturday in participating Eason stores around the country, we host our Get Into Reading Story Time, where we read a selected kids book to children aged from 0-6. ‘Get into Reading’ is a countrywide campaign with children’s literacy and the benefits of reading and storytelling at its heart.

The initiative draws on the importance of reading from a young age and the role of the parent in nurturing their child's love of the written word.
